Pope Appeals for Calm in Nigeria




Pope Benedict XVI on Wednesday expressed deep condolences to victims of the recent atrocious violence in Nigeria and appealed to religious and civil authorities to restore calm and peaceful coexistence.

Pope Assures the Poor of the Love of the Church for Them



Benedict XVI assured the poor on Sunday of the love that the Church has for them, stating that it will not abandon them. The Holy Father was speaking during his visit to the Caritas Hostel at Rome’s Termini station, which provides a place for the city’s destitute to stay until they can get back on their feet.
